Your pool expert says: don’t get candy in the pool! ;)

Because we live in one of the most glorious states imaginable weatherwise, we can have fabulous parties out by the pool in the cooler months. It may even be possible to have your Thanksgiving event out at the pool or spa. As pool repair specialists, of course, we believe there are few places more beautiful to stage a party than out by the pool, even if you don’t happen to have a heated pool for swimming. If your pool is heated, warming it up ahead of the big day will ensure it will be ready.

At press release date, the weather was holding, so we’re offering some tips to make your party enjoyable.

WARN THE GUESTS

When you invite your guests, make sure they’re aware the party will be outside so they can dress appropriately. Also, you may wish to set aside an area in your home for those who don’t want to be in the outdoors, or if the weather fails. Even in the cooler months, it’s possible to get a sunburn, so you may wish to have some sunblock on hand, and plenty of shade such as umbrellas.

FOOD

If you want to have a traditional Thanksgiving dinner or non-traditional barbecue for your meal, the choice is up to you. If you compromise and decide to deep fry a turkey, it’s imperative that you cook it out of the way of children or guests, as frying can be dangerous. You can learn more in this video prepared by The Phoenix Fire Department.

Some people elect to have warm or spicy dishes to keep everyone cozy.

ACTIVITIES

If there is swimming or spa dipping involved, there will be lots to do. If you set up a game of horseshoes or bean bag toss and have some frisbees, balls, dancing, or other games, everyone is sure to have a great time. For the sedentary people, you can have cards, checkers, or board games.

COMFORT

When the weather cools, you may want to light your chiminea or firepit. If you don’t have either of those, for a low price, to can rent outdoor heaters.

DECORATING, MUSIC AND LIGHTS

Of course lights are an essential part of your decorating, and we found this underwater light fountain, which looks like a fun addition to your pool lighting.

As always, be sensitive to neighbors about the amount of noise you make. Water acts as a carrier for sound, so if you’re planning on having a boisterous party, it might be best to invite all the neighbors!

LIBATIONS

Many people partake of alcoholic beverages, and sometimes consumption can be enthusiastic. A designated driver should be elected for those guests who don’t have an Uber or Lyft account. This time of year it is also great to have plenty of warm drinks on hand.

THE YARD

Giving the landscaper and pool service company the heads up can also be helpful if you want your backyard to look it's very best. You may want to turn your sprinkler system off for the day if the children will be playing in the yard or if the tables are set up in the grass.

We hope that we have given you some great party ideas and that your party is a smashing and much-talked-about success. If your pool needs service or repair before or after the big day, give us a call!
